Audio Visual Unit EstablishedThe Audiovisual Unit was established in the late 1990's to take custody of the video collection of the former Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation which the Government divested to the RJR Communications Group in 1997.

The Access to Information Unit was established in June 2002 to implement the Access to Information Act and to provide the necessary public education programme

The Department has four (4) units with a permanent establishment of fifty six (56) persons and four (4) persons on contract (for the Access to Information Programme). The Units are

The Archives Unit in Spanish Town

The Government Records Centre, Church Street, Kingston

The Audiovisual Archives Unit, Halfway Tree

The Access to Information Unit, Half Way Tree.
