| 1. | The Reading Room of the Jamaica Archives (Archives Unit) is opened every day except weekends and public holidays. |
| 2. | Opening hours for the public are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays to Thursdays and from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays. |
| 3. | Any person using the Reading Room for the purpose of consulting the records should sign the Research Register each day by writing his name and address and the subject of research. |
| 4. | No bags, suitcases or any bulky objects are allowed in the Reading Room. |
| 5. | Smoking is prohibited in the Reading Room or any other part of the building used for the storage of archives. |
| 6. | Silence is to be observed in the Reading Room and all adjacent areas. |
| 7. | No food or drink is allowed in the building. |
| 8. | Only pencils may be used for the purpose of taking notes in the Reading Room, all other writing utensils are prohibited. |
| 9. | No person is allowed to lean, crumple, tear or mark any document or book in the custody of the Archives. |
| 10. | No person, other than an officer of the Archives is allowed custody of the Archives. |
| 11. | No person is allowed to trace any documents, books or papers in the custody of the Archives. |
| 12. | No document is permitted to leave the Reading Room. |
| 13. | The use of cameras is prohibited unless the Supervisor of the Reading Room gives authorization. |
| 14. | Private records, which are subject to restrictions made by the depositors, will be opened to the public in accordance with those guidelines. |
| 15. | Documents requiring repairs will be withheld from researchers, but may be inspected by special permission from the Reading Room Supervisor. |
| 16. | No person is permitted to inspect more than three documents at a time without the permission of the Reading Room Supervisor. |
| 17. | Immediately after the conclusion of a search, the documents should be returned to the officer in the Reading Room. |
| 18. | Any person desiring to have documents kept out for use after the first day should notify the officer in charge of the Reading Room. |
| 19. | A deposit is required for all reproduction of documents (microfilms, photographs and photocopies). |
| 20. | Photographs of documents (microfilms, photographs or digital images) should not be reproduced except by permission of an officer of the Reading Room. |
| 21. | The Reading Room Supervisor has the authority to remove any person who willfully breaches any of the preceding Regulations. |
