Honduras, Turks Islands, Bay Islands and the Mosquito coast

h. Commissions of Authority (1846 - 1885) – These are books containing forms of various commissions of authority to different posts and records of such commissions.

i. Colonial Secretary’s Letter Books (1886 – 1925) and Circulars (1867 – 1956) - These relate to correspondence from the CSO’s office. 

j. Immigration (1910 – 1937)  These records include returns of “second-term coolies”, register of certificates issued under  Section 5 of Law 36 of 1919 “to place certain restrictions on immigration and to provide for the removal from the island of prohibited immigrants”, minutes and correspondence re nationality and naturalisation as well as immigrants’ register.
(These records are in addition to the Protector of Immigrants records which cover the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries).

k. Gibraltar Camp (1943) – The records relate to a census of evacuees taken at Gibraltar Camp for 1943.  The Gibraltar Camp was set up during World War 2 as a safe haven for European exiles. The camp which was approximately 252 acres included a hospital, churches, schools, shops offices, synagogue and police quarters. The first refugees arrived from Gibraltar and Malta in 1940. Jewish, Finnish and Dutch refugees also joined the camp in 1942. In addition, the camp was home for
